These are Polyquaternary Ammonium Compounds with cationic charge properties that make the polymers substantive to negatively charged surfaces like hair and skin. They are effective film-formers and impart a smooth and supple skin-feel and luxurious, shiny, detangled and frizz-free hair. Besides charge driven deposition of these polymers from conditioners they also may form invisible water-insoluble anionic/cationic complexes in surfactants. These nonionic hydrophobic complexes also condition hair and skin. Polyquaternium-6 with its very high charge density is found in many two-part hair dyes. Our Polyquaternium-7 offerings are “acrylamide-free” and there is a “paraben-free” variant. Our Polyquaternium-10 quaternized hydroxyethyl cellulose repairs split ends and does not build-up. This leaves hair voluminous and with lots of perceived “body”.
