Optical Brighteners improve the whiteness and mask the yellowness of some polymers, and allow brilliant white and colored products to be made. Many polymers absorb light in the blue spectral range, thus giving them a yellow tinge. The right Optical Brightener can absorb UV light and re-emit in the visible blue wavelengths, offsetting this natural yellowing effect.
3V offers Optical Brighteners (OPTIBLANC product series) that belong to the classes of compounds known as bis-Benzoxazole, Coumarin and Stilbene and offer both solid brighteners for plastics compounding and solid and liquid brighteners for both solvent and water based resins and coatings.
